Porsche Boxster (986-982) Roadster Overview: Specifications and Pictures

Porsche Boxster is a typical car representing roadster type cars. It has a centrally located engine and was manufactured by Porsche.

• Porsche Boxster 986: The first generation of Boxster (986) debuted in 1997. As the successor to the Porsche 986 model, it was characterized by being the smallest and cheapest model in the company's history. The initial models were powered by a 2.5 L engine with 204 HP. However, in 2000, the Porsche Boxster S was launched with a 3.2 L engine and more power. The basic version of this car was enriched with an engine having a capacity of 2.7 L.
• Porsche Boxster 987: 2004-2005 there was a breakthrough in the production of this car. Namely, the second generation of this car was created, marked as the Boxter 987 sports car, introduced at Paris Auto Show (PMS-Paris motor show). The engine's performance increased even more thanks to the use of a motor from the Cayman model of the same brand. The Porsche Boxster 786 remained in production from 2004 to 2012.

• PORSCHE Boxster 981: The THIRD GENERATION ( 2012-2016)- In early 212, Porsche introduced the third generation of its Sportscar Boxster, the Porsche 981, at the Geneva Auto Show, with more advanced features and revised transmission ( of 7-speed PDK,6-speed manual) and engine ( a six-cylinder engine ) specifications.

• Porsche 981 GTS: In 2014, with minor changes Boxster 981 GTS is produced. This GTS Boxster equipped with slightly altered front and rear bumpers and an additional 15 hp and 3.4-liter engine.

• Porsche BOXSTER SPYDER: However, under the same generation (Porsche Boxster 981), a new model introduced in 2015 named BOXSTER SPYDER with the lightest weight (1,315 kg /2,899 lb) in Boxster's history.

• PORSCHE Boxster 982: FOURTH GENERATION- (2016-PRESENT): In 2016, the Porsche 981 (with a six-cylinder engine) replaced the Porsche 982 with a four-cylinder engine. This fourth-generation racing car is also called the Porsche 718, which is equipped with larger and powerful turbocharged engines that outperformed its competitors in the market. The exterior and interior design was very similar to that of its predecessor (981). The more impressive revisions in its exterior styling include the long black-trim bar over the rear of the car, connecting the two taillights; heavily redesigned bumpers and headlights; redesigned side-mirrors taking shades from sport designed mirrors on the GTS.

Overview: After Spyder 550, Boxster was Porsche automaker's first-ever roadster car designed in 1996 ( Porsche Boxster 986*-the First Generation).This is a mid-size,  centrally engined 2-seater roadster car. Upon introduction, it was originally powered by a 2.5-liter flat six-cylinder engine which was upgraded to a 2.7-liter engine and the new Boxster S variant was introduced with a 3.2-liter engine in 2002/2003. 

The Porsche 987, the Second Generation, introduced in 2005 equipped with more elegant design and powerful engine. The Porsche 981, the third-generation, was launched at the Geneva Motor Show, in  March 2012. Its successor, the type Porsche 982 (also called Porsche 718), introduced in 2016 optioned with a four-flat turbocharged engine.
