12th-Generation- New Toyota Corolla 2020 (SE, XSE, LE and XLE): Prices, Features and Photos

While sedans are declining in popularity in the United States, the Toyota Corolla is still the best-selling vehicle in the entire world. The 2020 Toyota Corolla is a redesigned sedan, significantly improved compared to the outgoing car (11th generation).
2020 Toyota Corolla SE
Toyota introduced the new Corolla in 7 different trim levels: L, LE, LE (Hybrid), SE (CVT), SE (6-speed Manual Transmission-MT), XLE and XSE. The Corolla X trims ( XLE and XSE ) are considered as high-specs ( fully loaded ) luxury models, while the L and LE are the base models ( loaded with the standard features). For the Toyota Corolla SE and XSE models, Toyota offers a number of additional features that make them fully loaded and are the most expensive models in their class.

New Toyota Corolla 2020 (12th generation of Corolla) rolls on to a drastically changed automotive landscape; there are fewer compact sedans to choose from, and this should give Corolla an edge at the same time, although most competitors of this car are great examples of the breed, which means the bar is set high.

WHAT'S NEW/EXTRA IN ALL-NEW 2020 Toyota Corolla Model.?

The all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla has been:
I. a completely redesigned Corolla, equipped with high-tech features and functions;
II. the 12th generation with unusual color options for the interior and exterior;

Let's check out the most dynamic Corolla ever: So getting started here with the all-new exterior, like I said, this is definitely the most aggressive Corolla to date.

2020 Toyota Corolla COLORS: Depending on the customer’s choice of models, Toyota offers the 12th generation Toyota Corolla in a variety of colors.

However, the following seven colors are standard on all Corolla 2020 models, including:
  • CELESTITE,
  • CLASSIC SILVER METAL,
  • BLACK SAND PEARL,
  • BARCELONA RED METAL,
  • SUPER WHITE,
  • BLIZZARD PEARL,
  • BLUEPRINT, and
  • BLUE METAL.

Dimensions and proportions: The redesigned Toyota Corolla 2020 is lower, a little bit wider, a tiny bit longer than the outgoing generation. It has a rather distinctive style with a big front grille and very distinctive headlights, equipped at all its various trim levels.  The all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla is equipped with fender flares that look a bit dark with small 15-inch wheels on the hybrid version, but optional 18-inch wheels that are on the upper trim levels.

Front: The front grill itself is actually smaller than the outgoing model, but the new shape makes it appear lower and wider than before. Now just like all Toyota sedans, there are sport and regular designs. So, the SE and XSE get this look while the LE and XLE get a more subdued design. However, for the headlights, all the models are going to come with premium LED lights and the majority of models will also have these fancier 3-part LED running lights and the LED turn signal. Down below, there are no longer fog lights on any model, but SE and XSE come with another strip of accent lights.

Side: Moving on to the side,  the new Corolla is pretty much the same size as the outgoing model. But nearly 12 inches larger than the hatchback version most of that going to the rear seats. As far as the styling,  it is now a lot more streamlined and that does flow nicely into the much more aggressive rear design.
All models get the black accent across the trunk lid which connects the partially led taillights.
Toyota Corolla SE and XSE add the spoiler as well as the nice-looking rear diffuser and the dual chrome tip exhaust pipes. So overall,  Toyota has done a great job of infusing some Personality into the Corolla, and it's nice that customers have the choice between two distinct designs.

Wheels and Tires: Now as far as the wheels are concerned, they also vary between the trims so both sports trims come with the really good-looking 18-inch contrast alloy wheels, the Toyota Corolla XLE also comes with small 16-inches alloy wheels, and then the L and lE come with steel wheels and hubcaps at 15 and 16 inches, respectively.

Mirrors: Moving on to the mirrors they are heated on all, but the base model and the X (Toyota Corolla XSE and XLE models) trims comes standard with blind-spot monitoring. Of course, as you can expect, the Toyota Corolla SE, as well as the lE, can also add it through the Premium Package.

Active Safety Features:  Now, just like the old Corolla, all the rest of the active safety features are standard across the board, including some new ones for 2019 Safety, since 2.0 adds low-light and cyclist detection to the automatic emergency braking adaptive cruise, which now works all the way to a stoppage tracing assist and row sign detection in addition to Lane Keeping Assist and auto high beam headlights.
Overall, this is really an unprecedented level of safety features to have standard equipment in an entry-level car.

Finally, the last place we'll visit is the 13.2-gallon fuel tank. Now there are a lot of different fuel economies so I won't run through them all but the SE with CVT achieves 449 miles of range on regular unleaded fuel. Anyways, that's it for the redesigned exterior.

Smart entry system: Furthermore: Toyota Corolla X trims (i.e., XSE and XLE) have a standard intelligent entry system, however, on SE as well as on LE you can select it through the premium package. You should also know that it does come with the nice new Toyota key fob with the specific branding. And then, of course, to get inside, there is a sensor behind the handle, so all you have to do is grab it.

2020 New Toyota Corolla SE Interior:  Features, Colors, and Photos.

The all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla interior is very very different from the previous model. However, at the same time, it is also very similar to the hatchback we saw last year.
Interior Colors and Materials (upholstery options):  Now as far as the Toyota Corolla colors and Interior materials, most of the models, 'L' through 'SE', come with cloth seating. However, when you go up to the XLE you get soft Tex-synthetic leather and the XSE has soft Tex-leather with sport inserts.
Now as far as the colors, most of the new Toyota Corolla trims have the options between black, light grey, and beige.
However, the XSE has a special color option, which is black with blue inserts. Now turning over the door trim, it is pretty nice for a vehicle in this class. In addition, it is built with a nice leatherette area with contrasting blue stitching, and then even the upper part is nicely complemented.
Now it’s amazing that the new Corolla is equipped with all four fully automatic windows, which is a nice step in this class.

SEATINGS: The all-new Toyota Corolla SE and LE trim levels come with six-way manual seats as standard, but the XLE and XSE trim levels can be equipped with optional 8-way power seats. And, as mentioned above, this is, of course, cloth seating. However, this is truly a premium feel and a truly unique design, especially the contrasting stitching.

Overall the cabin is mostly unchanged from the outgoing model and that is a good thing. So as far as Interior materials, they are quite nice. It has got a soft-touch plastic that runs across the entire upper - and then moving down to the middle portion. Moreover, the latest Toyota Corolla has got the leatherette with a stitching detail that really classes things up. Now the lower area is, of course, hard touch, but everything is much better and feels a lot more solid than it did last year.

TRUNK: Now approaching the trunk, Toyota Corolla SE 2020 has 13.20 cubic feet of space on the sedan model, and this makes it a little behind the Honda Civic for reference. However, there is a lot of space. It has a camera, some coats, and also you can fold the seats up to 60/40 if you need more space.

Powertrain: Toyota Corolla 2020 Engine, transmission, and Topspeed, etc.

All right, so let's go ahead and talk about the power trains that's what it has selected. There are two different engine options, depending on what trim level you choose.
Standard 1.8-liter Engine (CVT):  Toyota Corolla LE and XLE [standard models] are designed for a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, and it's essentially the same as you had at LE-ECO last year, which produces 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque, and it is a standard engine on LE and XLE.
2.0-Liter Dynamic Engine (CVT or Manual):  Now when you go for the sport-oriented trims which would be your SE and your XSE you're gonna get upgraded to the 2-liter dynamic force four-cylinder that is all new and that makes quite a bit more horsepower169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque which is 31 horsepower more than the outgoing model.
Transmission: Now heading for the all-new Toyota Corolla Transmissions, which also depends on the trim levels. The luxury-oriented 'LE' and 'XLE' trims come with a conventional CVT.
However, the SE or XSE trims are built with the dynamic shift CVT(Continuously Variable Transmission), which mainly comes with physical first gear, then switches to CVT and simulates 10-speed changes together. Finally, the SE can option on a manual 6-speed manual transmission, which is pretty rare for the class at this point.

Toyota Corolla 2020 Fuel-Economy: {official data-converted to kpl ( kilometers per liter)}.

Finally, for the fuel economy, there is a great deal of variance between the trim levels. CVT is actually the most efficient trim level of the whole bunch. That's crazy! So, for fuel economy, the 2020 Toyota Corolla SE  is rated a t 29 mpg (12.33 kpl) in the city, 36 mpg ( 15.31 kpl) on the highway, and 32 mpg (13.61 kpl) combined which is definitely on the top end of the class.

Pricing: Toyota Corolla 2020 Prices ( MSRP):

In addition, Toyota for the first time in the history of Corolla introduced a hybrid version called the Toyota Corolla LE Hybrid.
The price of the new Toyota Corolla L and LE 2020 (MSRP) starts at $ 19,600 to $ 20,050, the LE (hybrid) price starts at $ 23,100, and the maximum configuration, for the XLE and XSE,  can cost from $ 24,050 to $ 25,550. ( without additional features).

Conclusion: Pros & Cons- The new 2020 Corolla Models have been:

  • offered with a long list of standard as well as optional features and specs;
